Fabric softener fragrance shapes the scent experience during the rinse stage and on fabrics after drying. Development should consider bottle scent, wet fabric scent, dry fabric character and freshness during storage. A pleasant bottle scent alone does not establish how a fragrance will perform on clothing, towels or bedding.

Fragrance selection should also account for compatibility with the cationic softener base. Evaluate the finished formula for appearance, viscosity, colour, odour and storage stability. Standard and concentrated softeners should be assessed in their respective formulas.

For sample comparison, use the same fabric type, softener dose, washing programme and drying method. Record the fragrance dosage and assess scent at defined intervals after drying. This helps compare scent intensity, character, retention and the fragrance contribution to product cost.

Can we use the same fragrance in detergent and fabric softener?

Some scent directions can be shared across a product range, but suitability should be confirmed in each formula. A fragrance selected for detergent may behave differently in a cationic softener base. For a coordinated range, we can discuss application-specific versions with a consistent scent identity.

What fragrance dosage should we test in fabric softener?

For regular fragrance, our initial reference range is 0.2%–1.0% by weight. The final dosage depends on the softener base, selected fragrance, intended consumer use dose, performance target and applicable usage limits. Microencapsulated fragrance requires a separate dosage recommendation.

Why does the softener smell strong in the bottle but weak on dry fabric?

Bottle scent does not fully predict dry fabric scent. Fragrance performance is affected by the formula, dosage, rinse conditions, fabric type and drying method. Compare samples on the same fabrics under consistent conditions, then evaluate scent at defined intervals after drying.

Can you develop a custom or perfume-inspired fabric softener scent?

Yes. Share your scent brief or reference sample, softener base, target market, intended dosage and target cost. We can discuss fragrance matching or new scent development and prepare samples for evaluation in your finished formula and on fabric.

Can regular fragrance and microencapsulated fragrance be used together?

They can be considered together for suitable softener projects, subject to compatibility and processing assessment. Confirm the incorporation method for the selected capsule system. Where separate addition is recommended, disperse each component thoroughly under the specified conditions, then evaluate formula stability and fabric scent performance.

What are your sample size, packing and MOQ?

Regular fragrance samples are supplied in 30 ml glass bottles. The standard MOQ is 50 kg per fragrance, packed in 25 kg drums. Custom development and specific formulas may require different minimum quantities. Microencapsulated fragrance sample sizes, packing and MOQ are confirmed separately.
