Air freshener fragrance selection starts with the product format. The same scent direction may require different formulation adjustments for different bases, carriers and release systems.

Air Freshener Fragrance Evaluation Before Bulk Ordering
Evaluate fragrance samples in prototypes made with your intended formula, carrier and packaging. Record the fragrance code, loading, preparation method and test conditions so that results can be compared consistently.
- Check physical compatibility. Observe separation, changes in texture, discoloration, surface oiling, leakage and packaging interaction during storage.
- Compare scent release. For passive gel, solid and hanging products, assess intensity and scent character at consistent intervals after opening. For aerosols, use a consistent spray quantity and assessment interval.
- Assess malodor performance separately. Where odor control is a project requirement, include an unfragranced control and evaluate fragrance pleasantness and malodor intensity as separate measures. Assess any odor-control ingredient through an appropriate finished-product testing protocol.
- Approve the finished prototype. Confirm the selected scent, loading, physical stability, packaging performance and relevant documentation before placing a bulk fragrance order.
